Green sets NHL record; Malik hurt
Capitals defenseman Mike Green set an NHL record Saturday night, becoming the first defenseman to score a goal in his eighth consecutive game.
Green's power play goal in the second gave the Capitals a 4-0 lead. Green took a shot from between the circles past Karri Ramo, who came in during the second period to replace Mike McKenna. Green had tied the record Wednesday against the Rangers, scoring a goal in his seventh straight game (like Bruins Mike O'Connell did in the 1983-84 season).
The news didn't get any better for the already injury-depleted Lightning blueline, as D Marek Malik left the game with what the team labeled a "lower body injury."
Coach Rick Tocchet didn't have much details on Malik after the game, but it sounds like it's the same lower body region that has been hurt previously.
More details as they come..
