Canucks defenseman Shane O'Brien expressed disappointment that he was traded from Tampa Bay and said Lightning ownership pulled the trigger too fast while trying to put its own imprint on the team.

"It's just unfortunate it all got blown up as fast as it did, and the way they go rid of guys," O'Brien said. "But they wanted to put their mark on the team, and I don't think they gave it enough of a chance to let it kind of evolve and develop. ... The way (goalie) Mike Smith has played for them this year, if you would have kept our blue line, Dan Boyle, myself, Filip Kuba, (Alex Picard), that's a pretty good blue line."

O'Brien was traded after the second game of the season in Prague. He played the first game against the Rangers but then was a healthy scratch. O'Brien said when he was traded, it was "one of the toughest days I ever went through," adding that his connection to the Tampa Bay area still is strong.

"I don't know the reason why, but I just really did enjoy it," O'Brien said. "I was a tough day when I left, one of the toughest days I ever went through. It's one of those things, you wish it would have worked out differently."

Vancouver "has been great to me," O'Brien said. Still, he added, "But for some reason, Tampa, when I came in there, they gave me an opportunity to play. I just wish I could have stuck around there and turned it around. It's a great place to play."

That said, "I want to beat them 10-0."
