Vinny Lecavalier to have wrist surgery
Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vinny Lecavalier will have wrist surgery Friday, ending his season. Lecavalier was scheduled to have surgery on the wrist last summer, but it was postponed after Lecavalier injured his right shoulder. Dr. A Lee Osterman will perform the arthroscopic procedure at the Philadelphia Hand Center. Osterman successfully operated on Lecavalier's left wrist in 2007.
"Obviously it is disappointing that Vinny will not be able to finish the season, but we feel that it is in both his and the team’s best interest to have the wrist operated on now," general manager Brian Lawton said. "Vinny has been battling this injury all season and I really can’t say enough about his ability to play through the pain and discomfort."
