The Lightning has spoken to former Wild coach Jacques Lemaire about perhaps coming on board as a consultant.

"Anything can happen," Lemaire said Wednesday from his Palmetto home. "It could be Tampa it could be Florida. I'd like to work with an eastern team."

Lemaire, 63, who stepped down after the season, is one of the game's all-time greats with 366 goals, 835 points and eight Stanley Cup wins in 12 seasons with the Canadiens. Before spending the past eight seasons with the Wild, he coached the Devils for five years, winning the 1995 Stanley Cup. He also coached the Canadiens for two years.

The mastermind of the trapping defensive system that some say hurt the enjoyment of the game because of its stifling effect on offensive flow made no commitments as to his future.

"I'm talking to a few teams," he said. "I don't know where I'm  going to end up or what I'm going to do. I'm just going to find what's comfortable."
