Tampa Bay Lightning takes high-schooler Kirill Gotovets with 183rd pick
The Tampa Bay Lightning, with the 183rd overall pick, took defenseman Kirill Gotovets from Minnesota's Shattuck-St. Mary's High, the same school attended by owner Oren Koules' son. It is the second straight season the Lightning has chosen a St. Mary's player in the seventh round. Last year was David Carle, whose career had just ended because of a heart condition.
Gotovets, 18, from Minsk, Belarus, had six goals, 23 assists and 66 penalty minutes in 50 games. He is 5 feet 11, 175 pounds. Was ranked 108th on Tampa Bay's list but 179th by NHL Central Scouting among North American skaters.
Tampa Bay has no other picks on the board.
