Tampa Bay Lightning wing Ryan Malone invited to Team USA Olympic orientation camp

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Malone is one of 34 players invited to the orientation camp for the United States team that will go to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

The camp will take place Aug. 17-19, at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, Ill, a suburb of Chicago. The roster includes three goaltenders, 12 defensemen and 19 forwards.

"I'm definitely looking forward to it," Malone said. "As a kid the goal is always the NHL and then playing for your country. It's always a great honor to put that sweater on. ... If I would have a chance to go to Vancouver and play, it's something that probably happens once in a lifetime. To bring the family along, it would be a great experience."

 Here is the roster:

Goaltenders: Ryan Miller, Jonathan Quick, Tim Thomas.

Defensemen: Tom Gilbert, Tim Gleason, Ron Hainsey, Erik Johnson, Jack Johnson, Mike Komisarek, Paul Martin, Brooks Orpik, Brian Rafalski, Rob Scuderi, Ryan Suter, Ryan Whitney.

Of the 34 players invited to the camp, just five have previous Olympic experience, led by three-time Olympian Mike Modano of the Dallas Stars. Additional Olympians include Chris Drury of the New York Rangers, Brian Rafalski of the Detroit Red Wings, Scott Gomez of the New York Rangers, and Jamie Langenbrunner of the New Jersey Devils.
