Lightning regrets, apologizes for late-night calls
If Tuesday night you received a recorded phone call from Lightning center Steven Stamkos promoting this week's "Young Guns" camp and Saturday's scrimmage and skills competition, you were not alone, and the organization, through spokesman Bill Wickett, apologized for the inconvenience.
The problem was with the timing as calls went out between 10:30 and 11 p.m., a little late for what was basically an advertisement.
Wickett said in an e-mail that the message was recorded by an outside telecommunications company which "hit the send button right after Steven cut the recording; all automated, of course. We stopped it as soon as we discovered the problem."
Calls targeted only to those already on a St. Pete Times Forum/Tampa Bay Lightning list will go out today, as was the original plan, Wickett said.
