The Lightning did not fare much better in its second preseason crack at the Hurricanes.
In fact, it did worse.
It lost 6-1 Wednesday in Raleigh, N.C.
Carolina put a much more veteran team on the ice than it did Tuesday in winning Tampa Bay's preseason opener 4-1, while most of the Lightning skaters were younger and less experienced.
Wing Boris Katchouk, a 2016 second-round draft pick who spent the past four seasons in juniors, scored the Lightning's only goal. Edward Pasquale, with Syracuse last season, allowed all six goals on 35 shots.
Next the Lightning travels to Nashville on Friday for a preseason game against the Predators. The Lightning returns to Amalie Arena for a second game against Nashville on Saturday.
