Lecavalier, St. Louis, Stamkos left off Team Canada
Update 5:52 p.m. - The three Lightning stars who were snubbed by Team Canada - Marty St. Louis, Vinny Lecavalier and Steven Stamkos - all expressed disappointment they weren't selected
The biggest surprise was St. Louis, a Team Canada member in 2006, who is third in the NHL in assists. But while St. Louis said it was "very disappointing" he won't get to play for his country in Vancouver, he took the news in stride.

Niittymaki makes Finnish Olympic team
Lightning goalie Antero Niitttymaki has made Team Finland for the 2010 Olympics. Niittymaki played a big role in Finland reaching the gold-medal game in the 2006 Olympics in Turin.
Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff is expected to be the starting goaltender. Minnesota's Niklas Backstrom is also on the roster.

Meszaros, Karsums make Olympic teams
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Andrej Meszaros has been named to Slovakia's 2010 Olympic team. It will be his second Olympics, following an appearance in 2006.
Meszaros has competed in the World Championships three times.
Right wing Martins Karsums, who is at AHL Norfolk, was named to Team Latvia. Karsums competed in the 2009 World Championships for Latvia.

Lukas Krajicek's time with the Tampa Bay Lightning appears to be over
Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Brian Lawton said recently demoted defenseman Lukas Krajicek "won't be on re-entry (waivers) under any circumstances." That means Krajicek's time with the Lightning is over while the team tries to work on a trade.
Lawton said there was some interest in Krajicek before he was sent down to AHL Norfolk on Dec. 12, but the deals would have been for an asset coming back, something in which the team was not interested. So, for now, Krajicek is collecting on his $1.475 million contract as a minor leaguer. ... Read more
Victor Hedman could play tonight for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and more on Krajicek
The Tampa Bay Lightning had an optional morning skate today at the Scottrade Center before tonight's game with the Blues, and defenseman Victor Hedman skated and sounded as if he was ready to play. The rookie missed Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Red Wings with a bruised left foot.
He said he had X-rays that were negative.
"Usually after 24 hours, the pain starts to decrease," said Hedman, who was hurt during Wednesday's practice by a shot from teammate Kurtis Foster. ... Read more
