Former star Adam Oates does Tampa Bay Lightning coach and buddy Rick Tocchet "a favor"

One of the games greatest passers will be on the ice during the Tampa Bay Lightning's training camp, helping coach the power play. Adam Oates, sixth all time with 1,079 assists, will participate as "a favor to me," coach Rick Tocchet said. Officially Adding Oates to the staff could come later. Perhaps this is kind of an audition.

The Lightning thinks so much of what Adam Oates has done for the power play, it is talking to him about a contract as an assistant coach. Tampa Bay Lightning players are thrilled to have Adam Oates signed on as an assistant coach

The thing Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vinny Lecavalier likes about having Adam Oates on the coaching staff is that he can teach.

"Some guys are good players, but to explain it," Lecavalier said. "Some guys just do it, but he's one of the guys who is a great teacher. He knows the game and explains it well. I think he's helped us tremendously."

Hall of Fame anouncement, 2010-11 schedule make Tuesday a very interesting day

The Tampa Bay Lightning coach be all over Tuesday's Hall of Fame announcement with former captain Dave Andreychuk a prime candidate with Lightning assistant coach Adam Oates and former Tampa Bay star Dino Ciccarelli.

Former Lightning player Dino Ciccarelli is in the Hall of Fame, Dave Andreychuk isn't

The NHL Hall of Fame announced on Tuesday that former Lightning player Dino Ciccarelli, Cammi Granato and Angela James were elected to the Hall in the player category.  Former Lightning captain Dave Andreychuk and Lightning assistant coach Adam Oates were not elected.
