Tampa Bay Lightning make five cuts, reduce training camp roster to 47

The Tampa Bay Lightning made its first cuts of training camp Tuesday. Five players were reassigned, reducing the tcamp roster to 47.

Players cut were:

G Mike Zador was sent to OHL Oshawa.

RW Mattias Sointu was sent to OHL Ottawa.

D Mark Barberio was sent to QMJHL Moncton.

LW Alex Hutchings was sent to OHL Sault Ste. Marie.

RW Kyle De Coste was sent to OHL Sault Ste. Marie.

Tampa Bay Lightning reassigns right wing Richard Panik to OHL Windsor

The team announced Saturday it has reassigned right wing Richard Panik to Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League. The Lightning now has 42 players in training camp. Panik, 18, played two preseason games and had two shots on goal.

Tampa Bay Lightning cuts 10 more to reduce training camp roster to 29

There were really no surprises when the Lightning on Saturday announced 10 more cuts to bring its training camp roster down to 29. Here is the list of players who were reassigned to AHL Norfolk's training camp. Officially, there were 11 cuts, but we already knew about center Carter Ashton, who was returned yesterday to WHL Lethbridge.

Here are the new 10:

Tampa Bay Lightning moves create more certainty and add some intrigue

When the Lightning put Ryan Craig, Brandon Bochenski and Adam Hall on waivers with the intent of sending them to AHL Norfolk, and released Brett McLean from his tryout, it left the big club with 25 players, two from the limit of 23 the team much reach by Wednesday. That means at least two more cuts need to be made, and since no moves were made to trim the 11 defensemen on the roster, it seems reasonable that is where the cuts will come. ... Read more
