Line of Marty St. Louis, Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone seems primed to pick up where it left off
There was plenty to like at Monday's two scrimmages at the Ice Sports Forum. A lot of the prospects, who were pitted against the NHL players, showed a lot of why all of a sudden Tampa Bay's feeder system isn't as shallow as it once was.
Goaltender Jaroslav Janus, who is playing for a contract, was terrific in two games, stopping 25 of 28 shots; center James Wright had a goal and an assist and had six shots in the first of the two scrimmages in which he played; right wing Carter Ashton can't stop going to the net and had the hit of the day when he ran over 6-foot-7 defenseman Vladimir Mihalik; center Richard Panik did not get a point but had three shots on goal and showed some skill; left wing Alex Tanguay had three goals in his first-ever game action for the Lightning; and right wing Steve Downie wasn't bad playing with Tanguay and center Vinny Lecavalier. ... Malone is second on the team with 16 goals.

Ryan Malone should play for Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Avs; Steven Stamkos not sure
Tampa Bay Lightning center Steven Stamkos said he was hit on the right wrist by a puck during Wednesday night's game with the Oilers. The blow caused a bloody cut (see picture with previous post) and was severe enough that he had to have X-rays, which were negative.
Stamkos skated Friday morning but still seemed unsure whether he will play against the Avalanche. Left wing Ryan Malone, who also was hurt against the Oilers, skated and said he likely will play, though he declined to talk specifically about his lower body injury. But the more compelling story right now is Stamkos, who leads the team with 17 goals. ... Read more

Injuries all of a sudden an issue for the Tampa Bay Lightning, though St. Louis will play
The Tampa Bay Lightning's injury report grew substantially before Tuesday's game with the Canadiens as center Zenon Konopka was listed out for at least a week with back spasms that have bothered him off and on, and left wing Ryan Malone is questionable with an upper-body injury that coach Rick Tocchet said has been a lingering thing.
