Tampa Bay Lightning GM Brian Lawton reiterates keeping No. 2 draft pick is likely

Regardless of what the Islanders do with the No. 1 draft pick, the Tampa Bay Lightning seems more determined than ever to use the second pick rather than trade. That is what general manager Brian Lawton indicated in a brief discussion about what might happen June 26-27 in Montreal.

The sharpshooter is still considered by many to be the draft's top player and the conventional wisdom has him being picked by the Islanders with the No. 1 overall selection. Tampa Bay Lightning to host draft party

The Tampa Bay Lightning will hold a viewing party for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft in the Channelside Club at the St. Pete Times Forum in conjunction with the Tampa Bay Storm’s game against the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (8 p.m.) beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 25.  This year’s NHL Draft is being held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California and the Lightning currently hold the sixth overall selection.
