Not that there really was much question, but Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said Saturday night that right wing Niklas Persson, who was cut and assigned to AHL Norfolk, will return to Europe, and that Tampa Bay has no financial obligation.

Persson showed pretty good puck skills and is a smart player, but his skating apparently was not adequate. Persson's signature moment came in Edmonton, where an impressive end-to-end rush ended with him on the deck in the Oilers slot after running, head down, into Edmonton defenseman, and former Lightning, Richard Petiot, who creamed  the Swede with a clean hit.
