Former Lightning player, and bust, Alex Tanguay returns to the Flames
Not that anyone will shed a tear, but Alex Tanguay, one of the biggest busts from last season, has signed with the Flames as an unrestricted free agent.
Nobody who had watched Tanguay play here believed he would be back with Tampa Bay, but there were some who speculated that for the right price he might be back for the right price. Apparently that price for the Flames was $1.7 million. Tanguay made $2.5 million last season while scoring 10 goals with 37 points and being incredibly light on the puck.
It was a terrible fit all the way around, and Tanguay also bristled at then-coach Rick Tocchet who benched him twice. It was the first time Tanguay had been benched in his career. Perhaps getting back to Calgary, where he had 40 goals from 2006-08, will help
