Goalie Smith could be on the ice Sunday

Lightning GM Brian Lawton said goaltender Mike Smith is doing "great," recovering from a mysterious upper-body injury, and should be on the ice either Sunday or Monday. The hope, Lawton said, is that Smith can play Tuesday against the Thrashers.

Lawton did not give any more information on the injury but he said the non-disclosure is a combination of the NHL not requiring teams to provide as much, and Smith's wishes not to have the injury discussed.

"The original thought behind it was never wanting anyone to have a competitive advantage in the form of knowing a specific injury," Lawton said of the NHL's disclosure rules. "That's all it centers around. We're protecting our players."

The bottom line, Lawton said, is "there is no mystery."
