Hedman, Tavares, Duchene visit Tampa Wednesday

Pretty interesting lineup will be at the St. Pete Times Forum on Wednesday. Defenseman Victor Hedman and forwards John Tavares and Matt Duchene, believed to be the top three players in the draft, will be in town to meet with Tampa Bay management, get a feel for the Times Forum and Tampa and participate in some fitness testing with strength coach Chuck Lobe.

The Lightning, with the No. 2 overall pick in the draft (a pick it is more likely to keep than trade), wants Hedman to help it rebuild the blue line. But the Islanders, with the No. 1 pick, are not tipping their hand as to who it will pick. Taking Tavares or Duchene wouldn't be too shabby, either, for Tampa Bay, though having to pick a forward would make it even more imperative to add to the blue line through trade or free agency.

Either way, it will be good to see how the trio reacts to the surroundings and the media, which will be in attendance. You know all three will say it doesn't matter to which team they are chosen, but perhaps you can get a feel as to which really wants to be in on the ground floor of a rebuilding project.
