Injured Tampa Bay Lightning LW Ryan Malone might not play Tuesday against the Hurricanes
Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Ryan Malone did not skate during Monday's practice at the St. Pete Times Forum and is listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury sustained during Saturday's win over the Jets. The injury has nothing to do with his surgically repaired right shoulder, coach Guy Boucher said.
Whatever the injury, it wasn't severe enough to knock him out of the game against Winnipeg. But Malone had a X-rays after the game that apparently were negative. He saw doctors again on Monday and traveled with the team to Carolina.
"He's obviously playing good and his line is great right now," Boucher said. "I think we've got two first lines right now, so we don't want to lose him."
Malone has three goals and six points with 11 penalty minutes while averaging 15:30 of ice time. He is on a line with center Steven Stamkos and Teddy Purcell.
