James Wright leads in Tampa Bay Lightning's 3-1 victory over the Stars (updated)
James Wright on Tuesday continued his solid play for the Tampa Bay Lightning in its 3-1 victory over the Stars at a prospects tournament in Traverse City Mich. Wright had a goal and an assist and has two goals and three assists for a team-high five points in three games. He also is tied for the tournament lead with three other players.
The Lightning (2-1) finishes the tournament Wednesday in a third-place game against the Hurricanes. The Red Wings face the Wild for the championship.
There were other fine efforts against Dallas. Goalie Dustin Tokarski stopped 35 shots as the Stars had a 36-31 shot advantage. Marc Vachon had a goal and an assist and Brett Connolly, the No. 6 overall pick of the June draft had six shots. But it was Wright who gets the biggest thumbs up because of his consistent play.
It should not be a surprise Wright is playing so well. He gained a ton of experience in 48 games last season with the Lightning before he was returned to Vancouver of the junior Western league.
