Lightning falls 4-3 to Hurricanes in prospects tournament finale, finishes fourth



Jeff Skinner's overtime goal gave the Hurricanes a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning in the finale of a prospects tournament in Traverse City, Mich. Tampa Bay (2-1-1) finished fourth in the eight-team tournament. The Wild beat the Red Wings 3-1 in the championship game.

Matt Butcher scored twice for the Lightning and James Wright's goal with 8:33 left in the third period tied the score 3-3. Each team scored one goal in each regulation period. Tampa Bay goaltender Jaroslav Janus stopped 30 shots as Carolina had a 34-27 shot advantage.

Wright had three goals and three assists, and his six points led the Lightning and tied for third in the tournament. Brett Connolly, Tampa Bay's top draft pick in June, finished tied for ninth with four points on two goals and two assists. The Lightning was poor on the power play, going just 2-for-14.
