Lightning recall defenseman Mike Lundin, goaltender Riku Helenius
The Lightning recalled defenseman Mike Lundin and goaltender Riku Helenius from Norfolk, just part of a roster shuffling as a result of injuries and a key absence.
Center Jeff Halpern and left wing Todd Fedoruk, both of whom suffered lower-body injuries against Philadelphia on Wednesday, were placed on injured reserve. Coach Rick Tocchet both just need time to recover -- and not surgeries -- but they are expected to be out about two weeks. (They would be eligible to return Jan. 2 at the earliest.) Meanwhile, goaltender Antero Niittymaki is out while his wife is expecting a baby.
Look for Lundin, who has played four games this season for the Lightning, to play tonight against Atlanta with defenseman David Hale moving to forward. Defenseman Matt Walker, who had been IR since Dec. 18, is eligible to play tonight.
Another player on the move is RW Steve Downie, who is expected to join Vinny Lecavalier and LW Alex Tanguay on the second line tonight.
