Lightning training camp, Ice Fest information
The Tampa Bay Lightning opens training camp Sept. 17 with off-ice testing at the St. Pete Times Forum. Practices and scrimmages are free and open to the public Sept. 18-Sept. 20 at the Ice Sports Forum in Brandon. Practices will be at 10 a.m. each day with a scrimmage to follow. There are separate fan activities Sept. 18-19 only from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Ice Fest is Sept. 28 from 6-10 p.m. at the Times Forum. It also is free and open to the public.

The Tampa Bay Lightning announced today that it will hold its 18th Training Camp, presented by Florida Central Credit Union, on Saturday, September 18, and Sunday, September 19 at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Entrance into each day of camp is free and open to the general public, and will feature open practices, an alumni autograph session, giveaways and more.
Lightning training camp will feature 54 players, including returning veterans, fan favorites and top prospects who participated in Tampa Bay’s development camp from July 10-14 at the St. Pete Times Forum. Newcomers Simon Gagne, Dan Ellis, Brett Clark and others will join perennial NHL All-Stars Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis as well as Rocket Richard Trophy winner Steven Stamkos, defenseman Victor Hedman, forward Ryan Malone and goaltender Mike Smith. Overall, the 2010 Lightning Training Camp roster features 32 forwards, 17 defensemen and five goaltenders.
Highlights of Training Camp include Head Coach Guy Boucher leading an open practice each day from 10 to 11 a.m., with an intrasquad scrimmage following until noon. Fans will also be provided with the opportunity to receive autographs from Lightning alumni and special discounts on food and beverages.
In addition, there will be a live radio broadcast on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. which will air on 620 WDAE, recapping all the action from day one of camp. The Lightning will also conduct a free youth hockey clinic at 2 p.m. on each day, facilitated by former Lightning forward John Tucker. A session for kids ages 6-10 will be held on Saturday, while a second session for individuals ages 11-16 will occur on Sunday. As an added bonus to scoring great seats, anyone making a season ticket purchase for the 2010-11 season will receive a complimentary Family Four Pack towards an open skate session and skate rental. All fans will receive an exclusive chance to win a free game of laser tag with the Bolt Brigade to be played at a time and date to be determined.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for both sessions, as the first 250 individuals in attendance each day will receive a free Tampa Bay Lightning “All In” t-shirt.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will welcome back fans to the St. Pete Times Forum on Tuesday, September 28, for its Ice Fest fan event, presented by Florida Central Credit Union, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The 2010 Tampa Bay Lightning Ice Fest serves as a perfect opportunity to kick off the 2010-11 hockey season by catering exclusively to fans. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and those wishing to attend are encouraged to arrive early, as the first 500 individuals to enter the arena will receive a free “All In” Lightning t-shirt.
Among the most notable events of the evening include a charity hockey game featuring Tampa Bay Lightning alumni, a question and answer session with Lightning players, Head Coach Guy Boucher and General Manager Steve Yzerman, a first-hand glimpse at team practice, an open skate with Thunderbug and the Lightning Girls, as well as a player autograph session. There will also be fun and games both inside the building and on the West Plaza for all ages, as well as food and beverage specials. Fans can also pick out the best locations for Lightning season tickets. Anyone purchasing season tickets at the event will also receive an equal number of tickets to see the Stone Temple Pilots, who will perform on Friday, October 8, at the St. Pete Times Forum as part of Lightning Launch weekend. The team will then open the 2010-11 regular season the following night on Saturday, October 9, at 7:30 p.m. against the Atlanta Thrashers.
A number of charitable events will also take place throughout the night. A charity scrimmage between Lightning alumni and members of the Tampa Police and Fire Departments in honor of officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab who were slain while proudly serving in the line of duty will begin at 6 p.m. All efforts, including a donation bucket drive located at arena entrances, a Jersey Off Our Backs alumni auction and season ticket raffle will benefit the Curtis/Kocab Memorial Fund.
In addition, all are encouraged to assist the Lightning Foundation by ordering Tampa Bay Lightning license plates or by purchasing new and player game-used hockey equipment at the Gearage Sale.
