New Lightning owner buys Tampa homes



For those wondering about new Lightning owner Jeff Vinik’s commitment to the Tampa Bay area, consider this: Vinik and his wife, Mary Penny, spent a combined $9.2 million in the past few days buying homes on adjacent lots across from the Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club in south Tampa, according to Hillsborough County records.

The smaller home, 3,244 square feet with five bedrooms and two bathrooms, was purchased for $3.2 million. The other, 8,351 square feet with four bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, went for $6 million.
