No decisions yet on Lightning assistant coaches says Guy Boucher
When word first leaked out of Canada that the Lightning would be hiring Guy Boucher as its new head coach, the reports indicated that he would be bringing his two assistants, Daniel Lacroix and Martin Raymond.
Not so fast.
Boucher, officially introduced by the Lightning on Thursday, stressed that staff decisions have not been made yet.
"Right now, everything’s up for grabs,'' he said.
He said he hadn't talked to his Hamilton staffers (which you know he will be) nor had he talked to current Lightning assistants who are under contract -- Rick Wilson, Cap Raeder (goaltenders) and Nigel Kirwan (video coach). He also obviously will be talking extensively to his boss, Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman about the composition of his staff, which you can bet will include someone with NHL experience.
"But there’s no one I’ve contacted,'' Boucher continued. "I want to get the guys who will complement me the best. I want guys who will challenge me and certainly guys who could eventually take my job. That’s what I like to surround myself with.''
