Norfolk G Cedrick Desjardins reinjures shoulder, could be out for the rest of the season, GM says

The Tampa Bay Lightning really likes goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. Some believe he might even be in the team's plans for next season as a backup. Right now, though, Tampa Bay just wants to see AHL Norfolk's goalie get healthy.

Desjardins on Wednesday in practice aggravated the right-shoulder injury that has bothered him since mid January. And while Admirals general manager Julien BriseBois said Desjardins will try to rehab to avoid surgery, there is a chance he could be done for the season.

""We're holding out hope," BriseBois said.

In the meantime, the Admirals have recalled Jaroslav Janus from ECHL Florida.

Desjardins, whose contract is up after the season, impressed the Lightning in two games this season. How this setback affects his status going forward (in other words, can the Lightning depend on him) remains to be seen. Just something to keep an eye on as Tampa Bay tries to put together its goaltending package for next season.
