Norfolk's Martins Karsums clears waivers, Lightning's Blair Jones on waivers

Norfolk forward Martins Karsums cleared waivers Monday, freeing him the play in Europe if he desires. If Karsums does make the move, the Tampa Bay Lightning would be relieved of his salary obligations. Also, center Blair Jones has been put on waivers. We will know at noon Tuesday if he clears.

Lightning coach Rick Tocchet has been critical of Jones and his inability to chip in goals here and there, and Jones missed a great opportunity in a key situation Wednesday against the Sabres. Jones said last week he was aware of the criticism and believes it is warranted.

"I expect myself to be able to chip in with some goals and some points," he said. "It's just frustrating when you're getting the opportunities and can't seem to find the back of the net. It wears on a guy. You just have to keep sticking with it and going to places where you can get rebounds, tips and some ugly goals. ... If you have a few goals already, everything is lighter off your back."
