Russia, Czechs in world title game
A goal by the Red Wings’ Pavel Datsyuk with 1:50 left in the game gave Russia a 2-1 victory over Germany on Saturday and put the defending champion into today’s world championship title game against the Czech Republic, which beat Sweden 3-2 in a shootout in Cologne, Germany.
The Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin had Russia’s other goal, and Lightning goalie prospect Vasily Koshechkin made 26 saves.
For Sweden, which plays for third place today, Lightning forward prospect Johan Harju had a goal and eight shots and was minus-1 in 20:02 of ice time. Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman was minus-1 in 20:25.
