Sun Sports announces 65-game telecast schedule for the Tampa Bay Lightning

Here is the announcement from Sun Sports:

As anticipation builds around the Lightning debuts of summertime acquisitions Mattias Ohlund, Matt Walker, Kurtis Foster, Stephane Veilleux, Todd Fedoruk and David Hale, as well as the first full season for head coach Rick Tocchet and the expected debut of top draft choice Victor Hedman, fans are getting set for another exciting season of Tampa Bay Lightning action.  The team and Sun Sports have announced the lineup of games scheduled to air on Sun Sports this coming season.

The 65-game Sun Sports schedule includes 31 away and 34 home matchups, including the Lightning’s regular season opener vs. the Atlanta Thrashers from Philips Arena on Saturday, October 3, at 7:00 p.m. (ET).

Lightning spokesman Bill Wickett said the team is working with other local stations to get more games on television.

Rick Peckham returns for his 14th season as the Lightning’s play-by-play announcer with analyst Bobby “The Chief” Taylor, in his 16th year, joining Peckham in the booth.  Sun Sports’ Paul Kennedy returns for his 9th season as rinkside reporter and pre- and postgame host.  Angela Jacobs joins the telecast team as feature reporter.

For the second consecutive year, Lightning on-air contributors for pre-game, intermission, and post-game coverage on Sun Sports will be former Lightning players Dave Andreychuk and Chris Dingman, who will split those duties on all home game telecasts this season.

The majority of Sun Sports games will also be produced and distributed in HD (schedule TBA) and will be available to HD customers of participating cable and satellite systems on a separate Sun Sports HD channel.  All home games will be preceded by the half-hour LIGHTNING LIVE pregame show and all games will include LIGHTNING LIVE postgame coverage from site.

Sun Sports is producing and airing an hour-long TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING PRESEASON SPECIAL, hosted by Paul Kennedy.  It premieres statewide Monday, September 28 at 5:30 p.m. (ET).

The popular INSIDE THE LIGHTNING series returns and will feature, in addition to player profiles, episodes offering behind-the-scenes access to other aspects of the team and its operations -- all designed to bring the fans closer to their favorite team.
