Tampa Bay Lightning D Mike Lundin likely out Sunday; is Marc-Andre Bergeron coming up?
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Mike Lundin has been playing with a groin/abdominal problem, he says, since the end of December. Seems as if Friday's game with the Capitals was the last straw as coach Guy Boucher said Saturday Lundin is likely out of Sunday's game with the Blues. It is logical to think, then, that defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron could be called up from AHL Norfolk.
Bergeron, 30, a power-play specialist in Norfolk to strengthen his surgically repaired right knee and find his game, finally had a breakout evening Friday. His two power-play goals, including the winner, gave the Admirals a 4-3 overtime win over Binghamton. Bergeron has two goals, eight points and is minus-3 in 13 games since being signed by the Lightning to a two-way contract that will pay $1 million, prorated to the remainder of the season from whenever he is called up.
Also, FYI, Dan Ellis will start in net Sunday against the Blues. There also is no local TV of Sunday's game. The game was a flex game for NBC, which has declined to pick up the game, the team said.
