The Lightning defense, already stressed by the absence of Mattias Ohlund, sustained another blow when Victor Hedman was held out of Sunday’s game with the Panthers.

Hedman has an upper-body injury, the team said, and coach Guy Boucher said the defenseman had an MRI exam, though there was no immediate word on what it revealed. The belief is Hedman, apparently hurt during Friday’s victory over the Blackhawks, could be out up to two weeks.

With Hedman out, defenseman Bruno Gervais played after nine straight games as a healthy scratch.
