Tampa Bay Lightning defensemen Matt Lashoff, Mike Lundin clear waivers
Defensemen Matt Lashoff and Mike Lundin cleared waivers Wednesday and will be assigned to AHL Norfolk .
The Lightning probably was holding its breath, especially on Lashoff, who has a big upside. But they were able to sneak through. Good timing trying to get them through on the last day before rosters are set and other clubs are scrambling to get to the 23-player limit. Expect Lashoff, at least, to spend the entire season in Norfolk, where he can get some confidence and run the power play. Of course, the Lightning still has nine defensemen on its 23-player roster. Too many. Don't expect that to last too long. Another move has to be coming.
And FYI, neither Lashoff nor Lundin has to clear re-entry waivers. Both will make $105,000 in Norfolk. Players making more than that have to clear re-entry waivers.
