Tampa Bay Lightning loses to Edmonton Oilers 3-2
With its top two goal scorers leaving the game with injuries, the Lightning lost to the Oilers 3-2 on Wednesday night at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa. The Lightning jumped out to a 1-0 lead 1:08 into the game on a Marty St. Louis goal. Then Ryan Malone left later in the first period with a lower-body injury, and by the start of the third, Steven Stamkos was out with an upper-body problem after playing just two shifts in the second. The Lightning came back from a 2-1 deficit on Victor Hedman's second goal of the season at 7:34 of the second period, but less than four minutes later, Zack Sortini scored what turned out to the the winner for the Oilers. Mike Smith had 29 saves for Tampa Bay, Jeff Deslauriers 32 for Edmonton.
