Tampa Bay Lightning loses to New Jersey Devils in shootout 2-1
The Lightning's shootout problems continued in a 2-1 loss to the Devils on Saturday afternoon at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa. Tampa Bay (4-3-4) couldn't get the puck past New Jersey's Martin Brodeur in four tries to fall to 0-4 in shootouts this season. The Devils needs only a goal from David Clarkson against Antero Niittymaki. The Lightning's goal in regulation came from Steven Stamkos, his team-leading 10th of season, early in the third period to tie the score at 1. Stamkos got assists from Ryan Malone and Marty St. Louis, who recorded his 600th career point. The Devils (8-4-0) took a 1-0 50 seconds into the second period on a goal from Travis Zajac. Nittymaki made 37 saves as the Lightning was outshot 38-19.
