Tampa Bay Lightning LW Todd Fedoruk clears waivers, buyout is completed
Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Todd Fedoruk cleared waivers Wednesday. Tampa Bay announced later in the day that the buyout had been completed.
"In talking with (coach) Guy Boucher about how he's going to use his players and the rest of the players on our roster, we felt that Todd wasn't in our plan this fall, and we didn't want to have him in the minors at that salary," general manager Steve Yzerman said.
Fedoruk, who had six points and 54 penalty minutes in 50 games last season, would have made $1.125 million next season. At two-thirds salary spread over double the remaining years of his deal, he will make about $753,000 instead, about $376,00 per season. He also will be free to sign with any team.
