Tampa Bay Lightning players, led by Vinny Lecavalier, lining up again for Cut for a Cure
Six Tampa Bay Lightning players will have their heads shaved to raise money for cancer research, programming and care. Captain Vinny Lecavalier, defensemen Marc-Andre Bergeron and Bruno Gervais and forwards Teddy Purcell, Brett Connolly and Tom Pyatt will "go bald" on March 30 at the TPepin Hospitality Centre. The event is closed to the public.
"I just think it's a great way to support the kids that go through it and raise money," Lecavalier said.
Donations will go to the Vincent Lecavalier Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, and Tampa's Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
Last year's event raised with the team raised $41,262, said Nancy Crane, executive director of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, and the entire campaign, which included money raised through area business leaders, media personalities and professional athletes, was $238,290.
"Just to get everybody in the community involved is something like this is a great feeling," Lecavalier said.
