Tampa Bay Lightning puts Norfolk right wing Mark Parrish on waivers
The Tampa Bay Lightning has put Norfolk right wing Mark Parrish on waivers, an indication the team wants to sign him to an organizational contract. Had the Lightning wanted to get rid of him, it would have just released him from his tryout contract.
Whether the contract will be simply a minor-league deal or one with an NHL component remains to be seen. We will know at noon Tuesday if Parrish cleared.
Parrish, 33, a former NHL All-Star trying to rejuvenate his career, has played at AHL Norfolk on two tryout contracts and has been praised for a renewed work ethic. He has 12 goals, 25 points and is minus-2 in 42 games.
