Tampa Bay Lightning reduces training camp roster to 49
The Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday reduced its camp roster to 49 by sending forwards Brett Connolly, Carter Ashton and Richard Panik back to juniors.
Connolly, the sixth.overall draft pick, was sent to Prince George of the Western league. Panik went to Belleville of the Ontario league. Ashton, who scored goals in consecutive games and got high praise from the coaching staff for his grit, went to Regina of the Western league.
Also, defenseman Randy Jones will be out about a week with a fractured right thumb sustained Thursday against the Oilers when he blocked a shot. And defenseman Marc Pouliot is day to day with an upper-body injury.
