Tampa Bay Lightning reduces training camp roster by two defensemen (updated)
The Tampa Bay Lightning announced that defensemen Teigan Zahn and Brock Beukeboom will not attend training camp. There was no immediate word from the Lightning about the change. There will be 52 players in camp; 32 forwards, 15 defensemen and five goaltenders.
Zahn's agent Craig Oster said a determination was made that Zahn would be better off with his junior Saskatoon team, which begins its regular season Sept. 24, the same day as Beukeboom's Sault Ste. Marie team. Oster said part of the equation was that Zahn would not make the AHL Norfolk team this season and playing him with ECHL Estero would not be as good for his development as another year in juniors.
