The Tampa Bay Lightning is speaking to the agent for D-man Carlo Colaiacovo
The Tampa Bay Lightning is one of six or seven teams who have interest in defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo, the player's agent said.
Agent Todd Reynolds said Thursday of the Lightning, "Yes we have talked to them. They have shown some interest. Where it will go I don't know."
Colaiacovo, 27, was a big deal when he came up through the Maple Leafs system. But he never played more than 48 games in any one season for Toronto because of a series of injuries, including concussion,s ripped up knees and broken bones. He was even accused of Leafs coach Doug Wilson of not being in shape.
Traded to the Blues, he played 63 and 67 games the past two seasons with 10 goals and 51 assists. He also played on the power play.
There was some speculation that Tampa Bay might have interest in former Devils defenseman Paul Martin, but only if Martin would be interested in signing for three years and keep his salary at about $4.5 million. He signed for five years with the Penguins at $5 million per season.
