Trade: Tampa Bay Lightning acquires D Bruno Gervais from Islanders for future considerations
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired defenseman Bruno Gervais from the Islanders for future considerations.
Gervais, 25, a 6-foot-1, 205-pounder had just six assists last season in 53 games, but has been an offensive contributor previously. He had six goals, 36 points from 2008-10. But Gervais was kind of the odd man out last season, though the Islanders see an upside, especially assistant coach Dan Lacroix, who was an Islanders assistant and coached Gervais.
"He's a good all-around D," Lacroix said. "He's smart. he makes a good pass and has a high compete level."
Expect to see Gervais with the Lightning next season, though the potential restricted free agent has to be signed. He made $740,000 last season.
