Yzerman on Wyman/Hall injuries and Connolly's return

Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said today that wings Adam Hall and J.T. Wyman, who each suffered upper body injuries in Thursday' night's loss, will not play Saturday against the Canadiens. Yzerman indicated that Hall could be out a while, depending on further evaluation in Tampa, but Wyman is more clear-cut and isn't expected out as long.

Rookie forward Brett Connolly has rejoined the team, fresh off helping Team Canada take the bronze medal in the world junior championships Thursday afternoon. Connolly is expected to play Saturday against Montreal. Yzerman, who watched two of Connolly's games at the tourney, was impressed with what he did.

"I thought Brett had a really good tournament," Yzerman said. "He was used in a little different role for him, which I think was very good. He was on the penalty kill, he did a good job there. They asked him to play somewhat of a checking line, crash and bang, and he did a good job at that."

Connolly racked up five goals and six points in six tournament games. Yzerman was also pleased with how Connolly responded after a rough start, getting criticized for some comments made before the tournament began.

"Coming from the NHL, there are going to be watching him, how he conducts himself," Yzerman said. "They watched very closely and every move he made I think he responded well. He kept his mouth shut, played his role on the team and he played it well. I think he showed maturity and unselfishness to go with whatever was asked. Not happy with how it started, but pleased with how he responded."
