Former Lightning coach John Tortorella takes over in Columbus
Former Lightning coach John Tortorella will get another chance behind an NHL bench.
The Blue Jackets fired Todd Richards Wednesday after an 0-7 start, and have named Tortorella new head coach, TSN and ESPN reported.
It will be Tortorella's first coaching stint since 2013-14 in Vancouver, where he got fired after a tumultuous tenure.

Tortorella is the winningest US-born NHL coach, including leading the Lightning to the 2004 Stanley Cup. He was recently named head coach of Team USA for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Good for Tortorella that he's got another shot, considering he still wanted to coach.
The Lightning's first game vs Tortorella will be Dec 14 in Columbus, with Tortorella returning to Amalie Arena Dec 26.
