Gudas shaves his legendary beard
For Lightning defenseman Radko Gudas, the "Fear the Beard" campaign has been cut short.
Gudas grew out his bushy black beard for years, and it developed a cult following, with a Twitter account (RadkoGudasBeard) and t-shirts "Fear the Beard" popping up. Lightning fans loved it.
But on Sunday, Gudas shaved off the beard, leaving only a handle-bar mustache, which he's keeping to join teammates on their Movember charity effort for men's health.
"A lot of guys were doing it so I decided, handlebars, I've never had them so I wanted to see how it looks," Gudas said.
Gudas said it was tough, having not remembered the last time he shaved the beard.
"It was pretty hard, I couldn't let go for a bit," Gudas said. "But it's a good thing."
Gudas doesn't like shaving, but might have to to keep his beard from growing, as he sported a 5 o'clock shadow Monday after just one day.
"I shaved yesterday," Gudas said, "And it's already back."
