Lightning acquires RW B.J. Crombeen from the Blues

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired right wing B.J. Crombeen and a 2014 fifth-round draft pick from the Blues for fourth-round picks in 2013 and 2014. Crombeen, 27, who will make $1.05 million on a one-way deal, missed half of last season with a fractured left shoulder sustained in preseason. He was tied for sixth in the league in 2010-11 with 17 fights.

Lightning was "an option" for Larry Robinson, who took associate coach job with Sharks instead

The Tampa Bay Lightning had at least brief conversations with Hall of Famer Larry Robinson about an assistant coaching job, GM Steve Yzerman acknowledged, and Robinson said had he not felt comfortable when visiting San Jose, the Lightning was “an option.”

“But after looking at the organization here, I’m very comfortable with my the decision that we made,” Robinson, who has a house in the Tampa Bay area, said on a conference call after accepting an associate coach job with the Sharks.

Tampa Bay Lightning signs goaltender Anders Lindback to a two-year contract

The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goaltender Anders Lindback to a two-year, $3.9 million contract that pays $1.4 million next season and $2.2 million in 2013-14. Lindback, acquired from the Predators as the long-term answer to the team's issues in net, was a restricted free agent, so, as he said about signing a contract, "It was just a matter of time."

If nothing else, the announcements Wednesday that defenseman Ryan Suter and center Zach Parise are taking their talents to Minnesota should loosen up a free agent market that pretty much came to a standstill waiting for the two stars to make their decisions.
