It's Lightning-Devils again, Drouin skates on his own
The Lightning play the Devils tonight for the third time this season and the fifth time in its last 17 regular season games dating back to last year.
The Lightning are 3-1 in the first four meetings during this stretch, including a 3-2 win at Amalie Arena during the second game of the season. The Devils won 3-1 during the last matchup Oct. 29 in New Jersey.
“It’s really weird we’ve played Jersey so much,” coach Jon Cooper said after today’s morning skate. “The prep time is, it actually makes it easier because we know what this team is all about. Our biggest thing is sticking to our structure, because if you escape that against a team like New Jersey, who is really structurally sound, you’re going to be in trouble, and that’s what happened to us last game.”
Ben Bishop will be in goal tonight.
In other news, F Jonathan Drouin skated by himself this morning, his first on-ice work since taking a hit to the head during Tuesday’s game in New York against the Islanders.
“So that’s a good thing,” Cooper said.
Drouin will not play tonight.
NUTS AND BOLTS: F Steven Stamkos begins play tonight tied with Chicago’s Artem Anisimov for the NHL lead with seven goals. Stamkos’ 13 points is second in the NHL behind Anisimov … D Victor Hedman will tie Chris Gratton (482 games) tonight for seventh place for games played in Lightning history.
