Kucherov leaves practice, Koekkoek returns, Bolts prepare for 3-game trip
F Nikita Kucherov left this morning practices and did not return.
Coach Jon Cooper did not provide a reason for Kucherov's early exit.
Kucherov skated to the bench and checked on his blades before heading to the dressing room.
In other news, Cooper said F Ryan Callahan (lower body) will travel with the team on this three-game Western Canada road trip but did not have a timetable for his return.
"I'm just told what the trainers tell me," Cooper said. "For the time being he's resting and hopefully we'll get him back here."
Callahan has missed six games.
D Slater Koekkoek and F Erik Condra were recalled Monday from AHL Syracuse. Koekkoek was sent down for two games so he could get the playing time he wasn't getting with the Lightning.
"Slater's continuing his development," Cooper said. "He's taking big steps, positive steps every single year. When our D corps finally got healthy, we could afford to play him some games in Syracuse. He's definitely part of our team. He's coming with us out west. Our goal is to get him in and getting back helping us."
The Lightning fly to Calgary this afternoon. It plays the Flames on Wednesday, the Canucks on Friday and the Oilers on Saturday.
It has won just once in their last eight games.
"We've had a little time to practice. We've had a little rest. We're going to need that going on the road here, especially that we're playing three in four nights," Cooper said. "I think every team that we play is sitting home waiting for us for a couple of days, so we have to be on our game. But I like where our guys' heads at. They've worked really hard here the last two days. Nobody wants to be in the situation that we're in, but we are in that situation and we have to work our way out just like everybody else."
