Lightning recall Gourde, Condra from Syracuse
The parade of callups from AHL Syracuse continues, as the Lightning has brought up forwards Yanni Gourde and Erik Condra from the Crunch.
The moves were expected as forwards Vladislav Namestnikov and Brayden Point did not finish Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canadiens due to injury. Namestnikov's head hit the boards hard on a third-period hit by Montreal's Shea Weber, who didn't receive any hearing or supplemental discipline from the league. The hit was considered clean, from the side, not the back. No penalty was called on play.
Gourde, 25, scored twice for the Crunch, including the overtime winner Wednesday in Syracuse. He's had a strong season so far, earning his callup with 10 goals and 26 points in 2 games. Condra, a veteran, has been up and down several times this season since being one of the final cuts in training camp.
The Lightning hosts the Maple Leafs tonight. Center Valtteri Filppula, who was scratched Wednesday after missing a morning meeting, is expected to be back in the lineup. Center Cedric Paquette (lower body) could be out again.
Gourde is the sixth Crunch forward to be called up by the Lightning this season.
