The Lightning knew it made the playoffs, and would host a first-round series.

And now Tampa Bay knows its opponent, the Red Wings, a rematch of last year's playoffs. The first game will be Wednesday at Amalie Arena, with the full schedule announced Sunday.

Despite losing Saturday to the Rangers, Detroit has made the playoffs for a record 25 consecutive seasons.

The Lightning considered the Red Wings one of its toughest series last year, beating Detroit in seven games. Tampa Bay was down 2-1 in the series, needing a Tyler Johnson-led comeback in Game 4 to even it up. This one should have its share of storylines, including coach Jon Cooper competing against one of his long-time friends Jeff Blashill, in his first year with the Red Wings.

The teams split the four-game season series this year.
