The Lightning traded goalie Kevin Poulin to the Flames Thursday for future considerations, solving a goalie glut in AHL Syracuse and freeing up a contract.

Poulin, claimed off waivers from the Islanders in late September as insurance with Andrei Vasilevskiy and Kristers Gudlevskis injured, never played in a regular-season game for Tampa Bay. And Poulin  hasn't played in a game for the Crunch, with Adam Wilcox and Gudlevskis splitting starts.

Poulin was practicing but in limbo, and by dealing him to the Flames, it frees up Tampa Bay from $175,000 in AHL salary. The Flames were short goalies in AHL Stockton, so it all worked out.
