No immediate callup for Lightning; Jonathan Drouin day-to-day
Turns out, Jonathan Drouin won't be getting called up.
At least, for now.
Even with captain Steven Stamkos sidelined 1-3 months with a blood clot in his right collarbone area, the Lightning isn't planning a callup at this point, assistant GM Julien BriseBois said today.
The most logical option for a callup is Drouin, but he's not available. Drouin has a lower body injury and will miss today's AHL Syracuse game against Utica. He's considered day to day.
Drouin has nine goals in his last nine games with the Crunch, the Lightning pleased with his play and attitude since returning from a suspension in early March.
The Lightning has an extra forward as it is, with Jonathan Marchessault a healthy scratch Saturday.
Stamkos is scheduled to undergo vascular surgery Monday afternoon in Tampa. The Lightning opens a four game, season ending road trip Monday against the Islanders.
